Responsibilities 

  • To be part of the Ketton site management team within the shift pattern with responsibility for managing the shift personnel and plant to ensure production operations meet customer expectations through product quality and quantity to meet Hanson service commitments.
  • To ensure SAFE talks / SAFE conversations are carried out 
  • To ensure adequate resources are deployed to manage safety environmental or quality issues.
  • Set housekeeping standards and responsibilities and ensure these are maintained
  • Identify bottlenecks and barriers to achieving maximum capacity and utilisation of the plant and bring about measures to remove them
  • To contribute to continuous improvement of the plant to achieve high run factors, availability and quality of plant and products. 
  • To implement and maintain a refractory management programme to extend refractory performance/life and reduce expenditure.
  • To develop standard operating procedures for all plant 
  • Monitor and optimize the kiln system, raw mill and cement mill power costs, fuel consumption, and alternative fuels.
Requirements
  • Coordinate with other Shift Managers and all other departments in the achievement of production objectives at lowest cost Skills / Experience 
  • High level of education; preferably a university degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related subject
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in cement manufacturing industry and detailed knowledge of the process and of cement chemistry
  • Preferable NEBOSH certificate qualified and ability to actively participate in site safety activities
  • Strong management, planning, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
