Responsibilities

  • Ensure engineering operations are carried out in compliance with relevant standards and best practice, maintaining optimum plant availability and reliability
  • Liaise with key suppliers and procurement to ensure the best value and control of annual plant shutdowns
  • Support supply chain management by ensuring maximum availability and reliability of mechanical and electrical equipment and determining the appropriate corrective and preventive interventions with full compliance to health and safety norms and proper utilisation of maintenance tools and instruments at the lowest sustainable cost
  • Lead and manage the maintenance team and the effective cross-functional cooperation
  • Ensure fully operational and process compliance and continuous improvement in maintenance activities
  • Develop a strong culture of safety leadership ensuring the team has a solid working knowledge of safety management systems, relevant legislation and regulation
  • Lead, engage and inspire the team, ensuring that competencies and skills are developed so everyone realises their potential
  • Manage major corrective maintenance actions, critical spare parts and annual plant maintenance programmes in coordination with Production and Plant Manager
  • Play a leading role in the sourcing and purchasing of CAPEX and third party services.
  • Establish on-site preventive maintenance plans and establish optimal stock levels of spare parts
  • Define equipment and component replacement strategy based on systematic risk evaluation
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • A consistent and demonstrable track record of success working in a production environment
  • Strong technical and leadership skills including the ability to build effective teams and develop team members
  • Strong commercial acumen and understanding of working with significant budgets
  • Robust planning and organisational skills
  • An excellent communicator capable of influencing at all levels
  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Engineering and leadership experience at a senior level in a heavy Industrial, continuous process setting, preferably cement
  • A passion to lead, develop and build teams to deliver results
  • Budget and Capex management expertise
  • Inventory control
  • Understanding of cement manufacturing processes
  • Proven experience in managing change and continuous Improvement
  • IT Literate, able to use CMMS
  • Skilled in information presentation; project management and planning; influencing and negotiation
  • NEBOSH qualification would be desirable
